CONTRIBUTING TO OUR ORGANIATION
ASDA is a 501 c(3) organization and all contributions are tax deductible; you will receive a receipt via email after your donation.
Canine search and rescue efforts have become part of the leading edge of rescue and recovery operations, while our cancer work is continuing to expand to provide HOPE to people effected by this disease. Both efforts require many resources. Please consider making a gift with the links below. Your support can literally be the difference between life and death for a missing person or a cancer patient. If you would like to give in person, please contact ASDA president, Donna Waugh, at 501-350-9090 or by email: [email protected]

CANINE CANCER DETECTION and research
We know our dogs are capable of detecting hard-to-find cancers. We need you to help us prove it to the world.
Why is the detection of cancer by these amazing dogs so important?
All support of our Canine Cancer Detection Foundation will be used to fund an ongoing series of studies involving canines in cancer detection. These funds, separate from our search and rescue efforts, will be used to support the training of our canines, as well as the scientific validation of our training and detection techniques. Our studies adhere to the scientific methodology and are conducted with the intention of peer review and medical publication.
Our research has included investigating a dog's ability to detect cancers in human blood, urine, and saliva. This will enable us to pair cancer detection canines with people living in remission. We will pair dogs imprinted with the scent of the cancer specific to each owner. These 'dual purpose' animals will provide ongoing therapeutic benefit and the possibility of early disease recognition.
Ultimately we aim to expand our efforts in canine cancer detection to other cancer types that are not conducive to early detection, such as pancreatic cancer. Additionally, we hope to pair disease recognition dogs with people genetically predisposed to specific cancers.
SEARCH AND RESCUE NEEDS
Currently, K9 SAR units are often dependent on the requesting agency to provide equipment at the scene. Unfortunately, needed items are not always available. Additionally, ASDA members cover all of their personal expenses (dog care [food, health], outdoor equipment, and travel costs for training and searches).
For us to purchase unit-owned equipment and services that can be used by all of our team members, we seek donations from local social and charitable organizations, grant-making foundations and individuals. You can be a part of our scent detection work by providing much needed financial assistance.
